2020 Vision

Yes we have a clear vision for the future in Playa Del Carmen . Our Church Launch Team has made a commitment to do Whatever it takes to see 100,000 people following Christ and praising God in Playa Del Carmen by the year 2020.
In 1961 when President John F. Kennedy said to the world that we would have a man on the moon by the end of the decade, many were saying how could that be possible. Some of you may be asking the same question about our “2020 Vision” goal. In our little church in Paamul and through the 1000s of volunteers from the States we are seeing God begin to bring together some of the most creative people with some of the most innovative ideas to help us reach this goal .

We are in the process of developing a detailed plan and you can help. If you have ideas that you believe would help us reach our people for Christ or if you have a mission team that would like to come and help in this movement of God, please Write me Doug@church-in-playa.com

This is the model for the basic structure of this movement:

We are starting a Multi-site Purpose Driven Church. We are just getting started we have the first site in Paamul in English. We are running about 80 people at the service. We are planning to Start a second site June 18th this one will be in Spanish and we are targeting the Mexican middle Class.

We have a vision to open 100 sites or services by 2020. The idea is every 8 to 12 weeks we will being all the group together in a Super Celebration.

If we are going to see this dream become a really we need your help as we take on these great problems in our community.

1. Spiritual emptiness -

2. Disintegration of the family

3. Self serving leaders, in Business, Government, the church and in the family

4. Addictions

5. Poverty

6. Boredom and loneliness among teens and Singles

7. Education

8. Affordable health care

As we are making plans to meet these great problems but we need your in put and your hands on participation.
This is something you can do today, Pray. Darla ask me, “Are you sure that this 2020 vision is what God wants.” My answer is YES! I’m also sure that God wants you to join us. Please pray, please share your ideas with our planning team, please give and please come. SEE GOD'S WILL clearly with 2020 VISION.

Staying the Course following His Call

As many of you know we were forced to make a decision to leave the IMB or change our focus in our ministry. We feel stronger than ever that God has called us to stay the course. I want to thank the IMB for their support over the last 11 years. We are off to a good start in the Cancun Tulum Corridor and it would not have happened without the support of the IMB. Though our calling has not changed, and we still support and share many of the same goals as the IMB it seems our vision is no longer within the boundaries of our Regional leadership’s focus for Mexico . Darla and I have prayed and we feel that God is leading us to resign from the International Mission Board.

Leaving the IMB at this time was not in our plan so we are going to need your help and your prayers in this time of transition. By August 1st we are need to buy a car, find affordable housing, find a way to pay for two kids in College and pay for our insurance. In the long term I believe our church here will be able to support us and our work but in the short term most of our members are cash poor, still rebuilding from last years hurricane. We know this is a test and we need your prayers. We know God is going to meet our needs but it is by faith not sight that we move forward.
